Berkeley Homes has submitted initial plans for its planned Malt Street regeneration to Southwark Council.
If approved, the scheme could provide more than 1,000 homes and almost 50,000 sq ft of commercial and industrial floorspace.
The plans, filed alongside a request for an Environmental Impact Assessment, concern the company’s 5.4-acre site, bounded by Bianca Road, Latona Road, Haymerle Road, Frensham Street and Malt Street, SE1.
The plans would provide up to 1,075 flats, 31,215 sq ft of light industrial floorspace and 18,836 sq ft of ground-floor commercial floorspace, in addition to the 1,300 homes and more than 75,000 sq ft of commercial space already approved through previous applications in 2019.
The proposals predict the development would involve the demolition of the remaining structures on the site and the construction of nine new buildings, with a maximum height of 119m.
These construction activities would be expected to take place over a 20-year period, with phased occupation to align with the completion of different phases within the site.
