Berkeley has successfully renegotiated the affordable housing component of its planning consent at 190 Strand, WC2.
Westminster city council has agreed to let the company pay £24m to the Affordable Housing Fund to remove the affordable housing element from the luxury scheme.
The previous consent for 206 flats included 22 affordable homes and a £2.5m payment.
Westminster’s head of affordable and private sector housing, Fergus Coleman, said that the funds could be used for the purchase of 52 new homes elsewhere. Turley advised Berkeley.
