While the UK battled with Storm Gareth, around a 140 cyclists from across the real estate sector endured their own war with French headwinds and crosswinds on their six-day relay ride from London to Cannes for the annual MIPIM conference.
But this year’s ride was a true example of teamwork as riders worked together to cut through the winds that at times sought to slow their speeds to a crawl.
Bill Hughes, head of real assets at Legal & General Investment Management, which has been lead sponsor of the charity ride for the past four years, said: “This year was the best, above all else because we got the balance of participation better. The whole vibe has been phenomenal and has just notched up and improved year on year.
“All in all it has been something I have been very proud to be involved with. Alongside all that we have raised a huge amount of money over four years for a range of charities, particularly Coram, and that has really inspired a lot of people.”
This year the ride was almost one-third female, a massive increase on previous rides, and also had a range of riders of different levels of seniority and from diverse businesses, making it even more of an essential networking event.
So far the ride has raised some £440,000 for Coram and the other Club Peloton beneficiaries. To find out more and to help push that total even higher, visit www.clubpeloton.org
