Big four suffer falling grocery sales

The big four supermarkets saw sales drop for the first time in at least 20 years.

Total grocery sales for the 12 weeks to 9 November were down 0.2% compared to last year to £24.9bn, according to Kantar Worldpanel. Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons all experienced a sales fall.

Sales at discount rivals Aldi rose 25.5% and Lidl 16.8%.
