Big Yellow has 100 self-storage depots in its sights

Big Yellow plans to expand by a third within four years.


It currently has 43 self-storage sites totalling 2.6m sq ft focused mainly on the South East but it also has a 23-strong pipeline, of which seven have planning permission.


The company plans to add about eight to ten properties a year over the next four years. It will focus on provincial towns and cities in the North. It hopes to have 100 by 2011.


Big Yellow reported full-year pretax profits up from £118.5m to £152.8m on revenues up 22% to £51.2m. Its NAV doubled from £244.3m to £488m. The shares closed up 26p at 617p.
