Bijou Brigitte, the German fashion accessories brand, has opened a 1,300 sq ft store at British Land’s Eastgate shopping centre in Basildon.
Bijou Brigitte announced plans to expand in key locations in the UK earlier this year.
A total of 55,500 sq ft of space has been occupied by 13 brands in the past nine months at Eastgate.
Superdry has opened a 4,100 sq ft store, HMV/Waterstone has opened a dual-facia 9,100 sq ft shop, TopShop/TopMan has upsized into a 9,800 sq ft store and New Look’s store was extended to 17,530 sq ft.
Steve Hadfield, asset manager at British Land, said: “Bijou Brigitte is a great addition to Eastgate and they are already proving popular with consumers. They complete a drive by British Land to enhance Eastgate’s offer by upsizing key retailers and introducing new brands that offer consumers something different.”
Vincent Coyle, international expansion manager at Bijou Brigitte, added: “Eastgate is a great location for Bijou Brigitte and will play a key role in the brand’s expansion in the UK. It is the essence of what we are looking for: a popular centre with a loyal customer base, run by a team that understands our business and can deliver the type of space we need.”
Jones Lang LaSalle and Angermann, Goddard and Loyd acted for British Land; Cushman & Wakefield acted for Bijou Brigitte.
