Property consultancy Bilfinger GVA has been awarded the contract to advise on the sale of Holloway prison.
The government announced in November that the prison would be sold to making way for housing.
The site covers 10 acres and could provide space for 5,000 homes. It could fetch £200m plus development costs, with a likely final value for the project of £2.5bn.
