The chancellor has been told that he must commit “billions more” or miss his new target to cut energy use by 15% by 2030.
Jeremy Hunt announced the target in his Autumn Statement and has committed £13bn in funding through to 2028. It includes £1bn over the next three years to insulate the homes of people who are “able to pay”.
Greenpeace has said at least £6bn is needed by the end of this parliament, while business secretary Grant Shapps has said the target will not be “achievable” without a lot more money.
