The Port of Liverpool won government approval for a ferry terminal tobe built at Twelve Quays in Birkenhead.
The terminal is the first of two “roll on, roll off” facilitiesplanned by the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company. Approval is sought fora second facility at Trafalgar Dock, Liverpool. Both terminals willbegin operations by 1999.
Investment in the two schemes will be £35m.
