Birmingham City Council has approved Sama Investments’ plans to develop 546 homes and 710 student beds on a brownfield site in Birmingham’s Digbeth Quarter.
The Garrison Circus development will include affordable homes and student rooms across four blocks.
The TP Bennett-designed scheme will retain the former Myona Building, historically home to Jacobs Biscuits, which will be converted into flexible amenity space.
Sama’s plans include a 37-storey building which will act as a new gateway into the city centre.
Paul Squire, chief executive at Sama Investments, said: “Garrison Circus will transform an underutilised brownfield site to unlock a new gateway into Digbeth, while also supporting the wider regeneration of the area.
“Not only will we deliver much-needed new homes and support the vibrancy of nearby universities, but our plans offer street-level community uses and green space for existing residents in the area to enjoy.”
