Blackstone in talks to buy Irish data centre developer

Private equity giant Blackstone is reportedly in talks to buy Ireland’s Winthrop Technologies for around £700m.

Blackstone is the frontrunner to buy a controlling stake in the business, according to Sky News.

The investor previously acquired data centre operator QTS in a $10bn (£8bn) deal in 2021.

Winthrop specialises in designing and developing data centres, with projects in countries including Ireland, Germany, Poland, Spain and the Netherlands. It employs around 750 people.

Last year the developer reported that its turnover surpassed the €1bn (£855m) milestone.
