Blackstone has named Jean Rogers, founder and former chief executive of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, as its global head of environmental, social and governance.
Rogers will join the company in January to oversee its corporate ESG team, partnering with business unit heads of ESG, operational and asset management teams. Rogers founded non-profit SASB after more than a decade at Arup.
“Resilient companies are at the heart of resilient portfolios that can outperform in a diverse society and decarbonised economy – and this helps deliver strong returns for clients,” Rogers said.
Blackstone president and chief operating officer Jon Gray added: “ESG initiatives are integral to how we drive value for our investors, and we look forward to partnering with Jean to advance these important efforts in the years ahead.”
Blackstone has hired 12 ESG-focused professionals this year, including Elizabeth Lewis as deputy head of ESG; Devin Glenn as global head of diversity, equity and inclusion; James Mandel as chief sustainability officer; and Caroline Hill as head of ESG for real estate in EMEA.
