Tony Blair has stepped in to try and prevent the closure of Ford’s plant in Dagenham, east London.
But his intervention is unlikely to have much effect as Ford its keen to cut over-capacity in its European facilities.
The car manufacturer has also warned it will stop production at Halewood, Southampton and Bridgend if threatened strikes go ahead.
