Edinburgh has shown off its plans to ban cars from the city centre.
A visual drawn up with the plan shows George IV Bridge, formerly one of the main north-to-south thoroughfares, teeming with pedestrians and cyclists but without private cars.
The final designs for a key section of Edinburgh’s Places for Everyone programme confirm that “walking, wheeling and cycling” will replace cars.
A report approved by councillors in August seeks to promote a largely car-free city centre by the end of the decade.
