The future of the Britishvolt gigafactory in Blyth, Northumberland, has been thrown into fresh doubt after the parent company of the Australian firm that rescued it was raided by police.
The Australian Federal Police swooped on the offices of Scale Facilitation in North Geelong, Victoria, on Friday in a joint effort with the country’s Serious Financial Crime Taskforce, acting on “multiple warrants” as part of “an investigation into an alleged taxation fraud”.
Recharge Industries, which won the race to buy Britishvolt out of administration in February, is a subsidiary of Scale Facilitation, which was founded by Australian David Collard.
