Peel Holdings’ Durham Tees Valley airport says BMIbaby’s decision to redeploy two aircraft from the airport onto routes from its four remaining UK bases is “quite inexplicable”.
It said BMIbaby had doubled its capacity at the airport only in April and had introduced a second, locally-based, aircraft to meet passenger demand.
The low-cost flight operator said it could not make a commercially viable operation at the airport.
