BMW opens its £400m Hams Hall engine plant near Birmingham today.
The 21.25ha factory (52.5 acre) will be the only supplier of four-cylinder petrol engines to BMW plants around the world.
BMW has bought 13.15ha (32.5 acres) of extra land and its road and other infrastructure which has been designated for possible later use.
