London & Quadrant Housing Trust, the Hyde Group and East Thames have named members of the board and the finance director designate for the housing association to be created by their merger.
The 14 board members have been recruited from L&Q, HHA and ETG, while Waqar Ahmed, currently group finance director at L&Q, will step into the same role at the new organisation.
Aubrey Adams, chair designate of the new organisation, said: “Our plans to merge three of the nation’s leading housing associations are a watershed moment for the sector that will allow us to tackle the housing crisis head on.”
A joint business plan will be agreed in the coming months with the aim of merging at the end of 2016. The new organisation will aim to build around 100,000 new homes, half of which will be affordable.
L&Q’s David Montague is the chief executive designate of the proposed organisation and HHA’s Elaine Bailey deputy chief executive. Yvonne Arrowsmith will continue as chief executive of ETG, which will become a subsidiary of the new organisation.
The new group board in full is:
Aubrey Adams, board chairman: The former chief executive of Savills joined the L&Q board in September 2015. He served as the head of property in the restructuring division at the Royal Bank of Scotland Group from November 2011 to April 2015.
Mark Sebba, current chair of HHA and trustee of the Victoria & Albert Museum. From 2003 to 2014 he was chief executive of the Net-A-Porter Group.
David Montague, chief executive designate, has served with L&Q since 1988. In September 2015 he was appointed ghair of the g15 group of London’s largest housing associations.
Elaine Bailey, deputy chief executive, joined the Hyde Group as chief executive in June 2014 and is responsible for the strategic direction of the organisation.
Waqar Ahmed, finance director, has worked for L&Q since 1998 and has been in social housing since 1994.
Betsy Bassis joined L&Q’s group board as co-optee in December 2014. She joined the civil service in September 2014 as director general and chief operating officer of DEFRA. In this role she is responsible for corporate services and DEFRA’s executive agencies.
Alan Collett, current chair of the Hyde Group’s investment committee.
Paula Hay-Plumb, who chairs the Hyde Group’s audit committee, she is currently a non-executive director at the Crown Estate.
Duncan Ingram, chair of the HHA’s housing services board.
Mike More, L&Q board member and former chief executive of Westminster City Council.
Trevor Moross, L&Q board member and joint managing director of London- based Dorrington.
Simon Rubinsohn, L&Q board, current chief economist for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Tina Tietjen, chairman of East Thames since September 2010.
Piers White, member of the Hyde Group’s housing services board and former UK chief executive of Bank Insinger de Beaufort NV until the sale to BNP Paribas in 2008.
