Bolton King takes RICS resi role

Peter Bolton King has joined the RICS as global residential director.

Bolton King, the former chief executive of the National Federation of Property Professionals, takes over from David Dalby, who retires in July.

He will work alongside RICS’s other professional group teams, and has been tasked with promoting the body’s presence in the residential market in the UK and internationally.

Bolton King will also be lobbying the government about the imposition of legislation in order to gain tighter control over the estate agency sector.

He said: “The residential property industry is an important part of the RICS moving forward. One of the reasons I am pleased to take on this role is because it carries a fundamental desire for improving the public perception [of estate agency], which is usually wrong. But I cannot believe that letting agents do not have to belong to an ombudsman scheme.”
