Bono wins Irish hotel battle

Irish rock bank U2 has won a lengthy legal battle to remodel Dublins’ Clarence Hotel, incorporating adjacent buildings of historic interest in the city’s Temple Bar.

The band commissioned Norman Foster to design a futuristic landmark and more than triple the hotel’s rooms to 166.

U2 and property developer partner Paddy McKillen said in a statement that the verdict was “great news for Dublin and for Temple Bar in particular”.
