Bonus chase impedes Dome link rail efficiency

The second section of the £3.5bn Jubilee Line extension linking the Millennium Dome in Greenwich, south-east London, to the centre of the capital, is due to open next month.

However it looks as if rail mangers chasing a £12m bonus for completing the link on time will mean travel restrictions on the line. Managers originally intended the section linking Waterloo to the Dome would run every day but two of the main links at London Bridge and Southwark will not open until later and passengers will not be able to travel after 9pm and at weekends.

The final section, which links Green Park, is not due to open until December. There are doubts whether the Westminster connection will be fully completed, even when the full line opens.
