The number of properties outside London changing hands for more than £1m has jumped by 44% in the past year to a record high.
Knight Frank has said that sales of £1m-plus properties in the Midlands and Wales rose by 78%, while in the North they were 24% higher. The majority of the sales were in southern England and the Home Counties, notably around major transport corridors.
