The mayor of London has broadly backed St George’s revised plans for a 700-home development in Ealing, west London.
St George is proposing 698 homes, 87,000 sq ft of shops, 10,300 sq ft of restaurants, 1,500 sq ft of offices and healthcare and community facilities on the 4.64-acre Dickens Yard site behind EalingTown Hall in the new Broadway.
Following a first round of public consultation with the council and public, St George altered two of the blocks, a community centre and introduced shared-ownership social housing in the project.
Ahead of a council meeting pencilled in for Wednesday 5 November to discuss the plans, the mayor’s office has “welcomed” the plans.
However, it called for some “shortcomings in urban design and architectural quality” to be resolved and said there was inadequate information with regard to the discount market units, given the “lack of an explicit assurance that they will remain at an affordable price in perpetuity for future eligible households”.
