Boris Johnson, who is expected to return to parliament as MP for Uxbridge after next year’s general election, will put a “living wage,” infrastructure renewal and devolvement of power to English cities at the top of his agenda.
On the infrastructure front, Mr. Johnson would look to improve compensation payments to people affected by major projects. He has told friends he favours emulating the French with regard to the HS2 rail route – buying out dissenting homeowners and recouping the money by selling properties at a higher price once prices rise due to improved transport.
Mr. Johnson has been suggested as a future infrastructure minister in a Tory government.
