British Land’s outgoing investment director, Bob Bowden, is the new chairman of Colliers CRE’s fund management arm.
Bowden will start the non-executive role at Colliers Capital on 1 January, the day he officially ends his 15-year tenure at British Land.
He is to spearhead the agent’s drive to launch a number of international funds, including a healthcare fund in partnership with ING Real Estate.
Bowden said the role would offer “exceptional scope for working in partnership with local offices worldwide on future fund opportunities”.
Colliers Capital chief executive Elliot Caldwell said the appointment was part of the company’s strategy to build its global fund management business.
Bowden will be taking a broad role with his chairmanship, which will see him become actively involved with business operations.
Caldwell said that Colliers Capital, which manages £700m of assets, is working on a “number of fund launches with colleagues in other parts of the world”.
One of the funds, a joint venture with its Norway arm, will invest in key commercial property sectors in Scandinavia. It has a £75m identified seed portfolio and a target size at launch of £150m.
AIM-listed Colliers CRE’s shares have suffered this year, losing almost two-thirds oftheir value.
They have fallen from a high of 220p in January to trade at just 76p this week.
