The British Property Federation has appointed Landsec chief executive Mark Allan as junior vice-president.
Allan joins Argent senior partner and Argent Related chairman David Partridge and JLL global head of sustainability services and ESG Guy Grainger on the association’s presidential team.
His appointment was announced at the BPF’s 47th annual general meeting yesterday evening (6 July).
Melanie Leech, chief executive of the BPF, said: “Mark’s industry experience and current role at Landsec make him well placed to help drive our mission to improve understanding among our key stakeholders of the property industry’s role in supporting our customers and communities, mitigating climate risk and enabling economic growth – and how national and local government, our industry and its customers can work better together as partners to maximise this positive impact across the UK.”
Allan said: “The property industry has a key role to play in creating a more productive and sustainable economy.
“By redefining the role of the landlord and by shaping a better future through environmental and social sustainability leadership we can drive better outcomes for the communities we are engaged with, for the stakeholders we are accountable to and for society at large.
“These are exciting times for us all, the pandemic has provided us with an opportunity to reset and ensure our industry has a defined, proactive and positive role to play in the success of the UK. It is the BPF’s role to galvanise us, to challenge us and to be the voice of our industry.”
