The British Property Federation has increased its focus on environmental and sustainability issues with the appointment of an assistant director of corporate responsibility.

Maggie Brenneke joins the BPF from Ecos Consulting, a US-based consultancy focused on increasing the sustainability of commercial and residential property.

Her brief is to work with BPF members to develop and share best practice, collaborate with Government on how best to implement new European legislation on the environmental performance of buildings.

Brenneke will also explore new policy initiatives that can support the industry in its desire to be more environmentally responsible.

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Brenneke has an MBA with a focus on real estate, and nearly 10 years’ experience developing strategies for improving buildings’ environmental performance.

She will be working closely with the BPF membership and industry stakeholders to develop effective strategies for improving the sustainability of the UK property industry.
