The British Property Federation today urged London Mayor Ken Livingstone (pictured) to leave design issues to the experts or risk further complicating the planning system.
Will McKee, director general of the BPF, said in a response to the Mayor’s draft spatial development strategy, Towards the London Plan: “We already have a plethora of arbiters of good design in London. If we are to be allowed certainty in the planning system, the Mayor should leave design issues to the experts and the local community.”
The BPF is committed to highlighting the importance of an improved planning system to London’s future development. The BPF also said that the London Plan should do more to support the property industry by not attempting to determine locations for future commercial development and not applying a blanket target for affordable housing.
