Bradford appointed to new West Midlands housing and regen role

The West Midlands Combined Authority has appointed a senior civil servant as its first head of housing and regeneration.

Gareth Bradford, deputy director of the Department of Communities and Local Government’s cities and local growth unit, is expected to join the WMCA before the end of the year.

Bradford begun his career at Devon County Council and has worked in Number 10 on housing policy.

The appointment will be seen as something of a coup for new WMCA chief executive Deborah Cadman and mayor Andy Street, as they seek to place greater emphasis on regeneration across the region.
