BrewDog boss sells properties ahead of flotation

The co-founder of BrewDog is selling off personal property assets linked to the craft brewer ahead of a planned flotation.

BrewDog boss James Watt has faced concerns over potential conflicts of interest, saying that his remaining property holdings rented to the Scottish brewer were “in the process of being divested”.

Three sites owned and leased to BrewDog by Watt have been sold in the past two years.

Watt has strongly denied the suggestion that the arrangements had been set up to extract money from BrewDog, adding that the business had benefited from having him as a landlord, particularly during the pandemic, when 27 months of rent-free holidays had been provided for three locations he owned.
