Confidence among Scottish building companies was marginally positive for a third consecutive quarter, although Brexit and the country’s constitutional future are a cause of uncertainty, a survey by the Scottish Building Federation shows.
The results suggest the industry is stuck in a state of limbo currently, SBF managing director Vaughan Hart said.
Some 43% of those surveyed reported a rise in the number of employees in the last 12 months, against 20% reporting a fall. For the coming 12 months, 41% expect the workforce to increase, 14% expect a fall and 43% expect no change.
