Success levels at Strettons’ 25 March auction disappointed at 62%, as continuing uncertainty around Brexit made potential buyers nervous.
There was a busy room at the sale at the Grand Connaught Rooms, WC2, with the first lot, a three-bedroom house in Chingford, E4, selling for £410,000 – some 28% above its guide.
A freehold commercial investment with a vacant flat in Walthamstow, E17, also sold well, with the hammer coming down at £434,000 – a third above its guide.
However, Strettons said that some of the vacant residential lots offered struggled to reach reserve prices.
Just 29 of the 47 lots on offer sold, raising around £4.6m.
The next Strettons auction takes place on 21 May.
