Brick shortage slows homebuilding process

A shortage of bricks continues to be an issue for housebuilders, a report by the National Association of Estate Agents reveals.

Stocks fell between 2008 and 2013 as manufacturers cut back on production in response to the slowdown in housebuilding. Despite a partial recovery in 2014 and 2015, a shortfall remains.

It’s crucial we have the right materials and skills, the NAEA’s managing director, Mark Hayward, said. Not having enough bricks to meet demand has a very real effect and holds up the building process.
