Bride Hall plans mixed-use scheme at Sports Village

Bride Hall plans to kickstart Cardiff’s proposed Sports Village with a 290,000 sq ft (26,941 sq m) retail/leisure development.

The privately owned developer has agreed to buy a 24-acre (9.7ha) site from Cardiff council, subject to detailed planning permission.

Bride Hall plans 240,000 sq ft (23,300 sq m) of food and non-food retail with 50,000 sq ft (4,650 sq m) of A3 leisure.

Bride is in discussion with potential occupiers of the retail element, with Waitrose thought to be close to taking a 50,000 to 60,000 sq ft (4,645 to 5,574 sq m) store and Marks & Spencer tipped to take a 100,000 sq ft (9,290 sq m) outlet.

Other interested retailers are thought to include Toys R Us and Next.

Bride Hall expects work to begin on site in the summer.

Harvey Spack Field is acting for Bride Hall.
