Briefing: Cushman revs to pole position

Cushman & Wakefield’s merger with DTZ has accelerated the agent into a comfortable lead, while JLL slips to fourth place in EG’s agents league table.

Cushman & Wakefield has powered to the top of the national agents’ league table, overtaking JLL to sign the largest number of deals in 2016. Thanks to its merger with DTZ, the agent bought market share and a comfortable lead, according to EGi Research. It is striking evidence of how market consolidation is shifting the tectonic plates of commercial property. C&W built on last year’s dominance in retail, so it now features prominently in office, industrial and investment. JLL, which had occupied the top spot since its merger with King Sturge in 2011, slowed to fourth, just ahead of CBRE.
