Pavements in Hong Kong will be lit up in pools of red and blue light to alert “smartphone zombies” when to cross the road.
The territory’s authorities have installed devices at four busy intersections as part of a six-month pilot programme.
The new technology will beam a red glow onto pavements to stop pedestrians glued to their phone from walking into the road. When it’s safe to cross, the light will change to blue.
