Bright start for Allsop

Auction-hammer-THUMB.jpegAllsop raised a total of £36.5m and sold 86% at its first auction of the year.

The auction, at the Berkeley Hotel, SW1, sold 72 of 85 lots offered, a success rate of 85%.

Nine lots sold for more than £1m, and 80% sold above reserves, exceeding the results of  the auction house’s December sale, when 77% sold above reserve.

Auctioneer and partner Duncan Moir said: “There were a number of epic battles between competing bidders across a wide range of properties.”
