Brighton’s Moulsecoomb Hub North affordable resi scheme set for green light

Brighton and Hove City Council intends to grant planning permission for its own plans for the Moulsecoomb Hub North scheme in Hodshrove Lane, Brighton, in a planning meeting next week.

The proposed development would provide 212 affordable homes, sports pitches, a skate park, public open spaces and community buildings.

The eight-acre site currently comprises the former Moulsecoomb Hub, which used to serve as a base for social workers, as well as the Hillview Contact Centre, the 67 Centre, a boxing club, a children’s centre, a playing field and a multi-use games area.

The boxing club and children’s centre are expected to be retained when the site is redeveloped.

The residential element of the council’s proposed scheme comprises an eight-storey building of 204 flats and eight semi-detached houses.

The development also includes a neighbourhood hub containing a library, doctors’ surgery, pharmacy, community café, youth centre, adult learning area and community meeting space.
