Bristol Council sued over ‘falling down’ car park

In Shops Centre is suing Bristol City Council for repairs to a car park that the company claims is near to collapse.

The claim says that joists supporting the car park floor will fall down unless they are repaired. The cost of the repairs is £20,000. Bristol City Council have denied they are responsible.

In Shops is seeking a High Court order forcing the council, which have an underlease of the car park from Tesco, to carry out the repairs.

The company is also seeking a declaration that the council are obliged to keep the floor joists in good and substantial repair.

The claim was issued by Moore & Tibbits.
