Bristol looks forward with £8m health and fitness development

In one of south Bristol’s largest private investment deals for years, Next Generation Clubs is building an £8m health and fitness club in the Greenway Centre, Southmead.

The leisure operator’s scheme will be situated on a 2.4ha (six acres) site, which it has taken on a 125-year sublease from Southmead Development Trust (SDT) at a premium of £1.5m. The company is also helping to finance local highway improvements around the Greenway Centre.

Andrew Broom, of Alder King, which advised SDT, said: “It’s likely that part of the £1.5m will be used to create a new community sports facility at the Greenway Centre, together with business units.”
