Around 80 of Bristol’s finest property, legal and public sector professionals turned out for the annual EG Focus reception at the end of April.
For the first time in more than a decade the event was not held at Hotel du Vin and, fortunately, there were no reports of people turning up there by mistake. The Radisson Blu did everyone proud, feeding hungry guests while we grilled them for the latest market insight.
There was plenty of gossip about where JLL is moving to in the city – it is the worst-kept secret, even the retail agents know – but we won’t jinx the deal by revealing which building it is just yet.
There was also much discussion about the dwindling supply of office space and why there is not more speculative development (see p92).
EG’s Lisa Pilkington also spoke to JLL’s Jeremy Richards and CBRE’s Peter Martin about why they believe office rents will reach record levels this year. You can hear that conversation on a podcast via the Focus blog.
The hotly contested EGi deals competition winners were announced, with Alder King named the region’s most active agent and Burston Cook’s Charlie Kershaw named biggest dealmaker.
