Bristol’s Corn Street back on the menu for restaurant operators

Bristol’s Corn Street is moving upmarket as bar and restaurant operators look to swallow up space in the area.

The traditional bar and pub area’s newest recruits are PizzaExpress, which has taken the former Wig & Pen site on Corn Street in an off-market deal, and Revolution Vodka Bar, which has taken space on the former fish market site on St Nicholas Street. Average rents in the area range from £215 to £236 per sq m (£20 to £22 per sq ft).

Andrew Broom, of local agent Alder King, said: “These deals rubber stamp the area. The focus of food operators has now switched back to Corn Street and the surrounding areas, which were traditionally drink-led.”

Others eager for representation in the city include Group Chez Gerard for its Livebait operation, the BRG Group for its Bank and Fish! Outlets, Conran, Yo Sushi and Ma Potters.
