Bristol has a very strong property market, says theFinancial Times in a special report on the city.
There is “phenomenal demand” for space, says one source. Largeout of town developments like Cribbs Causeway have had a positiverather than negative affect on the city centre. There is a retailrevival as well as a strong office sector. Total take-up ofoffice space in greater Bristol last year was the highest since1990, up 42% on 1995.
Outside the city centre, there is further evidence of anupsurge in property. ICI has planning consent over 607ha (1,500acres) at one site.At Avonmouth, Burford Western Estates has prepared a master planfor 182ha (452 acres) acquired from RTZ. In north Bristol, theMinistry of Defence opened a vast HQ. This has stimulated demandfrom defence related companies.
