Peter Mandelson is eager to foster hi-tech businesses in the UK after a fact-finding visit to California’s silicon valley last week. American technology companies told him Britain was well-placed to emulate the success of silicon valley but should foster greater co-operation between universities and technology companies.
Meanwhile specialist high-technology law firm Wilson Sonsini is considering setting up a UK office, its first branch outside the US west coast.
