Britain “most attractive market in Europe”

MIPIM UK 2015: The trade and investment minister has opened MIPIM UK 2015 calling on foreign investors to put their money in the “most attractive market in Europe”.

Francis Maude pointed to the country’s infrastructure investment, highly-skilled workforce and connectivity as reasons that “no country is better placed to offer you a return on your investment than Britain”.

He said Britain was “the most open, welcoming and business-friendly country in which to do business in the world”, highlighting its “advantageous tax regime”, “cutting red tape”, “streamlined decision-making” and world-ranking universities as draws for investors.

Maude highlighted the country’s success so far in attracting foreign investment, but he said: “We know that there is much more that can be done and must be done if we are to continue to succeed, because we face intense competition.”

The minister was in China last week on a trade mission and said the government would continue to promote Britain to worldwide investors.
