Britain’s first “IKEA village” of timber-framed Scandinavian houses will be built within a year, it was disclosed yesterday.
In the first stage of a nationwide plan, the Swedish furniture giant has joined with a construction company to create a community of affordable homes in Gateshead in the North East.
