Property taxes in Britain are the highest in the developed world, according to a report by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
The OECD’s annual report on taxes shows residential and commercial property taxes account for 11.9% of U.K. taxes, the highest among the 34 countries surveyed and almost double the average. The U.S. was in second place, with a figure of 11.8%.
As a percentage of national output, Britain again had the highest reading, at 3.9%.
