The British Council has confirmed that it has assigned the lease on its 10,683 sq m (115,000 sq ft) Grand Island headquarters in Manchester’s Medlock Street to BT.
As EGi News exclusively revealed last week, BT will be paying around £161 per sq m (£15 per sq ft) with 20years remaining on the lease.
Meanwhile the British Council will be locating its 400 staff to the nearby 5,574 sq m (60,000 sq ft) Bridgewater House in Whitworth Street where the passing rent is £150 per sq m (£14 per sq ft).
DTZ Debenham Thorpe and Dunlop Heywood acted for BT, Jones Lang Wooton acted for the British Council while De Havillands acted for Arab Bank, the landlord at Bridgewater House.
