British Land agrees 16 lets at Glasgow Fort 

British Land and Hercules Unit Trust have completed a number of deals at Glasgow Fort following the completion of the scheme’s £12m leisure quarter.

New retail tenants include Superdry, which has agreed a deal for a 12,000 sq ft shop, its largest shop in Glasgow and its first out-of-town shop in the UK, which is on a ten-year lease. Paperschase has also taken its first Scottish out-of-town shop, which is 2,000 sq ft and also on a ten year lease.

Smiggle has agreed a deal for a 1,000 sq ft shop on a ten-year lease while Footasylum has agreed a deal for a 5,000 sq ft shop, also on a ten-year lease. Tessuti will complement the centre’s fashion offering by sharing a 10,000 sq ft store with Scotts on a 15-year lease. Waterstones has signed for 3,300 sq ft shop on a 10-year lease.

JD Sports has also doubled its space at the centre and will open a 10,000 sq ft store on a 15-year lease and Mamas & Papas has moved within the centre to a new 5,000 sq ft unit on a 15-year lease.

New restaurants in the new leisure quarter include Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Thai street food operator Thaikhun, taking 3,000 sq ft and 3,750 sq ft respectively, both on 15-year leases.

Pret a Manger will operate a bespoke 2,500 sq ft glazed pod featuring a green living wall on a 20-year lease. YO! Sushi will transform the centre’s entrance with a 2,300 sq ft restaurant on a 20-year lease and Costa has upsized and will open one of its largest UK units, taking 3,500 sq ft on a 10-year lease.

Café Rouge has taken 3,900 sq ft on a 15-year lease for its first Scottish out-of-town restaurant and Nando’s has extended into an adjacent unit, almost doubling its space to 4,700 sq ft, on a 15-year lease.

James Duck, asset manager for British Land, said: “Glasgow Fort’s outperformance gave us the confidence to develop the leisure quarter, increasing the depth of our food and beverage offering and providing an additional 600 car parking spaces.”
