British Land and GIC sign hedge fund for Broadgate prelet

British Land and GIC have signed a financial services group on a 250,000 sq ft prelet at their Broadgate campus in the City of London.

Hedge fund Citadel and global market maker Citadel Securities will also take an option to lease up to a further 130,000 sq ft at the 750,000 sq ft 2 Finsbury Avenue, EC2. The deal means the building is already a third prelet at a minimum, and 50% prelet if the option space is taken.

2 Finsbury Avenue is expected to complete in 2027. The scheme comprises a 36-storey East Tower and 21-storey West Tower with a 12-storey podium linking them.

British Land chief executive Simon Carter said the building would “transform the London skyline” and deliver space into a “supply-constrained market”.

Moves by financial services companies in London hit their highest level in more than a decade last year according to a recent report from agency DeVono.
